577 Foundation gets a solar update with help from GEM Energy and First Solar

577-foundation-video-kiosk When 577 Foundation in Perrysburg needed an upgrade to its aging solar system, First Solar donated new panels and GEM Energy performed the electrical work necessary to get everything working.

The panels generate about 1 kW of power and are tied to 577’s electrical system. The power generated reduces the amount of electricity the non-profit organization needs to purchase from the grid which lowers its monthly electricity bills. Visitors are able to interact with a video kiosk that has real-time monitoring and historical info.

577 Foundation is dedicated to preserving the integrity of the historic property at 577 East Front Street in Perrysburg, Ohio. Open to all, 577 is an ecologically sensitive site that encourages diversity and seeks to foster exploration, experimentation, personal enjoyment and creativity in education.
